Feedback Requested - Requested - new Floss apps

I was thinking of adding apps for Hand Dyed Fibres, WeeksDye Works, GAST. My preference would be to bundle them as different apps - would anyone buy them? Would you prefer that I bundle them all together? Is anyone interested in a fabric calculator, or has that been done to death?

  1. I think they could all be bundled together (in a separate application). I don't know if I would buy the application however, because when I buy any of these threads, it's 1 or 2 at a time. I don't have a huge inventory of these threads so I know that I have to end up buying what I need for a project anyway. Hope that makes sense.

Fabric Calculator - yes, it's been done to death.

  2. Hi! I want to know how this app looks on IPad. I like all details I have read about it and really want to get it... But I want to know if it looks fit to the screen or is like through a magnifiying lens, as many iphone apps loke on the IPad.
Please let me know and btw congrats on the idea, I think is brilliant! I wouldn't mind a fabric calculator...
About the other floss apps, personally I wouldn't get them because I rarely use them... But if I did, as many other people, I definitely would.

    Cheers and Happy Holidays!

  3. I just bought it, did my list and I'm loving it... I wish it looked better on my IPad, but it's fine for now. Please add DMC satin floss to the inventory.
    Thank you!

  4. I think your my first iPad customer - I'm glad it works - will add DMC Satin floss asap.

  5. Hi Alex!

I for one don't need a fabric calculator...being a math person I just do it in my head. For the specialty flosses, I'd be most interested in WDW and GAST, and I'd be willing to buy them separately. I'm not sure what it would do for a coding issue, but I'd love to see an export function. I'm thinking of upgrading to an iPad soon, and I'm worried that my data won't transfer between the two units!

  6. I've decided to create a 1 app that has WDW, GAST and HDF (Hand Dyed Fibres). Alls it takes is getting the lists for each and the images for each. Not sure what I will call the app - "XStitcher for Weeks Dye Works, Gentle Arts Sampler Threads and Hand Dyed Fibres" is a bit unwieldly. "XStitcher for misc floss" doesn't really do these fine floss justice. Have to put my creative hat on.

  7. How about XStitcher for Common Specialty Fibres? Or XStitcher for Common Overdyed Fibres? I think those would work since the three you named are the three most common. (Although Crescent Colors seems to have really caught on and HDF fallen out of favour, at least on my stitching board.) If you ever need input, the ladies over at the 123 Stitch board are very outspoken and opinionated!

  8. How about just calling it hand-dyed floss? If you can put a description, put GAST, WDW & CC. Most people who stitch know what those are, and they are the most popular 3 "brands" as well. I'll buy it when it's ready - for my iPad!

  9. Can you tell me how to delete a floss from the shopping list? I must be missing something obvious. Thanks!

I would buy the app with those specialty threads/over-dyeds combined. And, unlike the others, I would use a fabric calculator on my iPhone as I would have that with me if I was shopping in an LNS. At home, while shopping online, I would use one of the online FC, but an app one would definitely be handy.

  10. I too would buy an app for HDF, Weeks, and GAST and I'd also use a fabric calculator on my iPod. Yeah, I can use the calculator, but a dedicated app(and one where you could specify your margins-- 3" per side, 2.5" per side, whatever) would be amazing (since I have bought fabric before without adding the margins:( )

  11. Oh, and if there was a way to either include the floss converter from the HDF site, or create another standalone app that converted DMC, HDF, AVAS, Needlepoint Silk, Anchor, and any other popular brands that would fit, I'd buy that too!

  12. All. Yes, everything. Together, separately, whatever!

  13. I would love to see an HDF/GAST/ WDW app. Lots of people use HDF worldwide - I think you would do well with it.

  14. Oooh, HDF yes please! Would prefer separate apps, but whatever.... How about Gloriana and Needlepoint Inc as well?

  15. Hand-Dyed Fibers has a strong following, and I would say it's on the rise rather than "fallen out of favor!" I would be interested in it only if it does have Hand-Dyed Fibers, as that fiber is the only one I use. This is from someone who owns an iPod-Touch and a future owner of an iPad.

  16. Oh yes please please please for HDF. I have an iPhone and iPad.

  17. I'd definitely buy it but ONLY if it had HDF in it. That's the type of thread that I have the most of and the only motivator for buying it. I'd also love an app that works properly on the iPad if you look into it, as that's what I'd use to do my inventory work.

Is there a reason why it couldn't handle 4 types of floss if adding Crescent Colors makes sense? I know some people are using it a fair bit, but if you drop HDF the app certainly wouldn't appeal to me.

  18. I have your DMC app on my iTouch. I was hoping that you would add the overdyed threads such as Weeks, Gast, and Crescent Colours. these are the ones that I ususally use.

  19. To Isabel, to delete do the following: Gently put your finger or thumb somewhere near the middle of the row (for the floss on the shopping list I target about where the description is) an swipe your finger/thumb right-to-left. A red box with the word "delete" will appear on the row, just tap it for confirmation.

  20. I would LOVE an iPhone app for HDF, Carrie's (cotton & silk), and Gloriana - but if I can get one that at least has HDF, I would use it :)

I would also use a fabric calculator - I usually save up and buy 2-3 cuts at a time, so it'd be good to have a quick sanity check (with margins) before the cutting starts :)

  21. I would love 1 app for WDW and 1 for GAST
I have the app for DMC and I love it

    Thanks

  22. Own an iphone and ipad and would love the chance to purchase an app for HDF silks especially, as it's the fiber I use almost exclusively. I'd buy the HDF app if it came separately or if it came bundled. THanks for much for your skill in doing this!!!

  23. I'd like one for fibers. I have a hard copy of "Stitcher's Pocket Inventory" and would love one for my iPod. If you are going to bundle I would bundle by type. Cotton fibers like weeks, GAST, crescent colours and Threadworx together. Also silks together like HDF and SNC and Gloriana.

  24. Would love to have an app for all fibers, esp HDF (my personal fav) but could you make it for Android too please? Leslie

  25. I've been looking for an app that would work to keep track of all of my fibers. This would work for me if it wasn't just DMC! Thanks
